If you’d like to volunteer, but don’t want to tutor we can use your help.
So you’d like to be a tutor
An important part of the volunteer program is your genuine devotion to and concern for your student.
Our basic goal is to help adult non-readers acquire basic literacy and English language skills. Part of accomplishing this is to build a ladder of successful learning experiences for the students. This gives students a more positive self-image, based on greater self-confidence and improved competence.
Tutors are required to go to at least two in-services (trainings) a year, held on the second Monday of each month. In-service schedule 2005-06 (PDF). We’ve had tutors from all careers such as web designers, retailers, doctors and project management consultants.
